How to Celebrate 4th of July This Year

2nd July 2021

As lockdowns lift and the world starts getting back to normal, locals are able to start celebrating again! After a Fourth of July in 2020 that was mostly sidelined by the pandemic, one of the biggest summer parties will largely be back on this year, even if it looks a little different.  There are loads of ways to get patriotically festive near your The Victor apartment—from unwinding at Penn’s Landing to taking in the historic parade in Old City and everything in between.

If you don’t want to travel too far from your The Victor apartment for the holiday this year, you’re in luck. The July 4th Freedom Festival, which was cancelled last summer, returns to nearby Wiggins Waterfront Park with a host of outdoor activities, including everyone’s favorite holiday fun: food and fireworks.

Live performances will take place throughout the evening, starting at 5 p.m. with the Tri-County Symphonic Band, which will perform a sault to veterans. At 6:30 p.m., Arnetta Johnson & Sunny take the stage, followed by local icons Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes. Take in the award-winning musicians with the spectacular backdrop of the Delaware River and Philly skyline, all while celebrating with thousands of neighbors on a (hopefully!) warm summer night.

The event features food, drinks, opportunities to learn about community organizations, interactive vendors and much more. And while you’re at Wiggins Park, enjoy all that the area—just a half-mile from your The Victor apartment—has to offer, including gardens, a promenade that takes you past the marina and historic battleships, and a children’s garden featuring interactive exhibits and more.

After a year of cancelled events, make sure to get out and about this Fourth of July holiday to take in all the excitement that the Philly area offers!
