Where to get Southern Soul Food Right Near Home

16th July 2020

Summer is the perfect time for some soul food—and here in Camden, you don’t have to travel far from your The Victor apartment to find it!

Just about 10 minutes over the bridge into Philly is Warmdaddy’s, which has specialized in homecooked soul food for 25 years. Warmdaddy’s has been open throughout the pandemic, offering both pickup and delivery—and it’s close enough to your The Victor apartment that you can take the quick drive or enjoy your feast without ever leaving home.

Once businesses fully reopen, make sure to schedule a night out to Warmdaddy’s, as the venue offers a lot more than food (though the menu itself is well worth a visit!). On Fridays and Saturdays, enjoy live R&B and blues music from some of the area’s most renowned musicians, as well as up-and-comers, providing a perfect backdrop for your meal. And on Sundays, head to the restaurant for brunch for a live jazz show that will have you feeling like you’re kicking back on Bourbon Street.

The menu offers just as much flavor. On the dinner side, dive into skillet mac and cheese, firecracker shrimp, catfish, gumbo and fried chicken, among many other options. No Southern meal would be complete without dessert, and Warmdaddy’s offers authentic items like sweet potato cheesecake, berry cobbler and pineapple upside down bread pudding. If it’s brunch you’re after, bring your appetite for a buffet that features seafood, veggies, pasta and much more. The drinks side is equally Southern-infused, with lots of rums, fruity cocktails and even moonshine.

We’ve all been cooped up for months, so once things get back to normal, it’ll be the time to treat yourself to a meal out, all while supporting local businesses!
